Dr. Yolanda Peppers retired from the State of Illinois in March 2018 after almost thirty-two years of service as a health facility surveillance nurse responsible for investigating nursing homes. She went on to work as an adjunct professor of psychology at Chicago State University and City Colleges of Chicago.

Today, Dr. Peppers is the director of medical detoxification and nursing for Haymarket Center in Chicago, where she oversees the agency’s in-house nursing staff in all five of its detox programs. A thoughtful and spiritual leader, Dr. Peppers wrote her dissertation on the intersection of depression and church attendance among African American adults. An intercessory prayer warrior who also serves as an armor bearer prayer assistant for Dr. Jeanne Porter King, Dr. Peppers has been encouraging God’s people through inspirational essays and articles since the early nineties when she started writing for her church newsletter. Today, Dr. Peppers continues to inspire people through the words God gives her to share with others.
